Thai-Style Massage at GeeCol Wellness Ltd. in Suffolk, Bury St Edmunds
How is the treatment performed?
The Thai-Style compresses are heated in a purpose designed steam generator which ensures the compresses are at the right temperature for use. Different size heated herbal compresses are being used in combination with the Thai massage techniques along with either a relaxing or stimulating aromatherapy blend to perform the treatment. As always there will be a consultation period before the treatment checking for contra indications and ensuring that the client is suitable for the treatment.
What is the history?
The natural herbal and plant compresses were once the tools of ancient healers in Thailand. Over 200 years ago compresses were used on soldiers in the Thai-Burmese battle to soothe aches, pains and wounds, encouraging healing. Up until early this decade compresses could only be found at Bangkok's Wat Po Temple, the national centre for the teaching and preservation of traditional Thai medicine and were used only by Buddhist Monks. Today the compresses are part of treatment menus found in many of the Western Spas.
What is in the herbal compresses?
The compresses contain up to 14 traditional Thai herbs such as kaffir, lime, tumeric, camphor, lemongrass, prai, menthol and tamarind to name but a few.
